This is anything but new. Current try is with 2002060216 OS/2 (release branch?) To reproduce: 1-Create new profile via migrate from Netscape install that has several news server accounts with many subscribed groups, and a used mail account 2-Open mailnews Actual behavior: 1-Mozilla expands all folders 2-Mozilla trys to fetch mail and download headers from every news server 3-Clicking the stop button as soon as the activity starts fails to prevent the mail fetch login password dialog from popping up 4-Clicking the stop button repeatedly fails to stop message headers from starting to load on every news server Expected behavior: 1-Mozilla expands either no folders or only the mail folder 2-If the stop button is clicked before the password dialog appears, the password dialog does not appear, and further activity halts. Alternatively, Mozilla asks if you would like to fetch mail, since the automatically fetch upon startup pref cannot have been migrated. 3-Mozilla does not attempt to fetch any news headers prior to user request

Marking all because this isn't going to be OS/2 specific.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. I don't use TB. On SeaMonkey trunk, there is no longer a stop button on the toolbar with a virgin profile, and if there's an alternative available in the menus, I missed it in the alloted time trying to get past all those modals while the headers were loading. There still does need to be some way to stop fetching everything when the profile wizard exits. So, the stop button should be put back, and then this bug fixed.
