Commons-l subscription
editHello Gdr,
as per Commons talk:Administrators, I am asking all admins to subscribe to commons-l, a mailing list for Wikimedia Commons policy and project discussion. Since many admins are only on Commons infrequently, this is a good way to alert people about important happenings. The mailing list is nominally multilingual, but predominantly English.
If you are already subscribed to commons-l, I apologize for bothering you, and you are free to ignore this message. If you don't want to use your regular e-mail account, feel free to leave me a message, and I can send you a GMail invite. Traffic on the mailing list is relatively low, and we do not expect admins to read all messages to the list, but it would be nice if you could check on it at least every few weeks. Thanks for your time,--Eloquence 23:02, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Admin news
editHello,
If you consent for statistics to be published about your actions as an administrator, please sign here: Commons:Administrator permission for statistics. (I expect that most people will not have a problem with it unless you are especially concerned with privacy.)
Also, please be aware that we now have a Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Please put it on your watchlist, if you haven't already!
cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 05:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Request removal of sysop access
editHi. I have requested the removal of your sysop access, at meta:Requests_for_permissions#Removal_of_access. Following Commons:Administrators#What_is_expected_from_an_administrator.3F, an administrator with less than 50 edits in 12 months is considered inactive and may have his/her sysop status revoked.
This is not a personal attack on you, but a way to make sure that those administrator's listed as such are available for administrative tasks. If you feel that you will again become active and need the sysop tools, you are of course welcome to apply for adminship again.
removal of adminstatus
editHello, Gdr,
your adminstatus has been removed per request on metawiki due to inactivity. You can re-apply for admin through normal procedure. Effeietsanders 18:01, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect identification
editThe image posted as Sciaenops ocellatus is incorrectly identified. Anonymous comment from 173.26.227.94 at 14:05, 8 June 2009
- I'm guessing you mean File:Sciaenops ocellatus (line art).jpg, right? I think you're right—I made some kind of mistake when uploading it. It looks like some kind of Lutjanus. Anyway, I'll put a note on the image page. Gdr (talk) 19:05, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello, please also have a look at [1] and [2], they were wrongly named after they were cropped from [3], probably best would be to
- upload the current File:Polyipnus spinosus.jpg (which is Paralepis coregonoides) to File:Paralepis coregonoides2.jpg (or any better name) (because File:Paralepis coregonoides.jpg does already exist),
- and with the current File:Argyropelecus hemigymnus.jpg (which is Polyipnus spinosus) just overwriting the current File:Polyipnus spinosus.jpg
- and cropping number 147 (Argyropelecus hemigymnus) from [4] and overwriting the current File:Argyropelecus hemigymnus.jpg with it.
Then everything (or at least these) should be correct again. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 01:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hello again, I did do that now, unfortunately I found another incorrectly named image at File:Paralepis coregonoides.jpg which is File:Paralepis borealis.jpg, [5]. I hope there is not much more of these :S
- Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:17, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- I randomly clicked 3 uploads of Yours, and found 2 good 1 bad: File:Halieutichthys aculeatus.jpg, which seems to be "Halieutella lappa" according to [6]. Please can You check Your uploads and correct them wherever necessary? Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:24, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
File:Fujisan from Motohakone.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
