John Frederick Rayner (1854–1947) was a florist, plant collector and mycologist from Swaythling, Southampton, Hampshire, England. There is a brief biography of him here. He published In Search of Wild Flowers, a preliminary to the systematic study of botany in 1933. There is a paper called "The conflict of the cord grasses in the Southampton Water" from the Hampshire Field Club journal here.
