Oscillator sync is a feature on several synthesizers to synchronize two or more VCOs (or digital emulations of VCOs). Generally, one oscillator (called "master") will periodically restart another oscillator (called "slave"), so that they will have the same base frequency. Also as a side effect, the timbre of slave oscillator can be altered by varying frequency of master oscillator.

There are two common forms on oscillator sync: Hard Sync and Soft Sync. Soft Sync is slightly wider term used for a variety of mechanisms. Also other methods for oscillator sync are discussed on Wikipedia article.
