- I agree, and I think cuisine sounds better... Lusitana 13:14, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
All Category:Food of Chile are being moved to Category:Cuisine of Chile with a category redirect being added. I'd support the same type of move for all similar categories. There are currently only 49 "Food of __" categories and about 3x as many "Cuisine of ___" categories. I think that part of the reason why "Cuisine" wins out over "Food" is that Cuisine can also include items that are not technically food (beverages, cooking styles, etc.). --Willscrlt (Talk) 13:52, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not only are there a lot more Cuisine categories, there are a lot more files and pages categorized under Cuisine than under Food. It is pretty obvious to me that it is this category and its subcategories that should be merged into the related Cuisine categories. Someone who runs a bot could do that very quickly. Until then, just move the categories around manually.
- What I have noticed is that most "Food of" categories are categorized under "Culture of ___" (and the Cuisine categories are also) and "Products of ___" (which Cuisine categories generally are not). I have been adding the "Products of" category to the Cuisine categories, adding a "Food of" category to the Cusine categories (so that they are cross referenced), and then replacing the content of the "Food of" category with a {{Category redirect}} template to the Cuisine category. --Willscrlt (Talk) 14:26, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose renaming as "Category:Food by country" contains many images which should actually be inside "Category:Cuisine by country" and definitely not in "Category:Food products by country". I suggest to merge this category in to "Category:Cuisine by country" as also "Category:Food products by country" will still give problems as to when something should be categorised in there or in to "Category:Cuisine by country". - Takeaway (talk) 00:14, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Our of curiosity, where would you put a photo of Chinese food made in Argentina? Swiss Cheese made in the United States? etc. - Themightyquill (talk) 13:07, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
