This particular file may be "own work", but it also may be a derivative work of en:File:Bharatiya Janata Party logo.svg. If it is a considered a derivative work, then I don't think that it or the files File:Bharatiya Janata Party (icon).jpg, File:Lotus BJP Symbol.svg or File:Lotos flower symbol.svg can be kept per COM:PCP, unless the original lotus logo shown at bjp.org is within the public domain. The BJP is claiming copyright ownership over all of the content (inlcuding its logo/symbol) appearing on its website, and there's no indication they've released the lotus imagery under a free license. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:48, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just going to add that there are other similiar files of the party's symbol found in Category:Bharatiya Janata Party. These too would seem to be derivative works. If the original imagery is considered to be protected by copyright, then these may also need to be deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:04, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Image licensing is not my strong suit, so I'm not going to opine on this discussion specifically. However, this particular symbol keeps reappearing on en.wiki, frequently after being uploaded by a drive-by editor. If this discussion determines that the symbol is inappropriate for commons, perhaps it would be worth requesting an edit filter, which flags images containing "political party symbol" and permutations thereof in the description? •  Keep Because I think it is not a copyvio because it comes from a website with proper license.--√Tæ√ 06:52, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't mix the deletion requests for several files together. --Furfur Diskussion 14:33, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: There is no evidence that this drawing has been released under free license or that the author gave permission. The drawing has complex shapes and is clearly above COM:TOO. This file and the COM:DW are going to be deleted. --Arthur Crbz (talk) 16:03, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Keep This is an SVG version of a black and white Lotus flower sketch as usually used in Indian elections. This symbol has been printed for decades on virtually billions of ballot papers during Indian elections. It is not copyrighted. See here: File:India National Level Parties symbols.JPG. --Furfur Diskussion 14:32, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Keep as above. 大诺史 (talk) 07:23, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Furfur: The fact that is has been printed on ballots is not a valid rationale. It doesn't mean that it's not under copyrigjt. --Arthur Crbz (talk) 16:04, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
