Both The New York Times and Buzzfeed published the image without a photo credit. This is particularly noteworthy in the case of The Times, which invariably includes a photo credit if applicable. This tells me the image is unencumbered by copyright.
Please note: I explained this, with links, when I uploaded the image to Commons. When I posted the image to the Felix Sater article, that explanation appeared with the image. Not good, so I returned to Commons and removed it. I believe it would be helpful if the Commons uploader indicated which input fields are included with the image when it is posted in an article, as opposed to being saved in Commons for reference.
