Even though this photo was provided by NASA, still the original photographer asks for his name to be displayed along with the photo. I'm not certain, but just in case, I'm nominating this photo for deletion. I am the original uploader of this file. Thanks, Lighthumormonger (talk) 13:50, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support @Yann: declined speedy without explanation. This is not a NASA/PD file. I was, however, incorrect about authorship/credit, which goes to "Relativity / John Kraus". This is a third-party contribution to APOD which is clearly not covered by {{PD-USGov-NASA}} and we need to address that authorship/licensing issue. Elizium23 (talk) 19:03, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is clearly not eligible for speedy deletion. Yann (talk) 20:41, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean by "clearly" but if you're contending that it fails F1, F5, and F6 and we need a full discussion, even in light of this uploader's proven track record of deception and fake licensing, then so be it. Let's get it into the open. Elizium23 (talk) 20:50, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: no valid reason for deletion, license fixed. --Yann (talk) 08:54, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This file was initially tagged by Geohakkeri as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: per APOD website: "Authors & editors: Robert Nemiroff (MTU) & Jerry Bonnell (UMCP) NASA Official: Phillip Newman Specific rights apply." Yann (talk) 06:21, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually that was Elizium23’s rationale. Nevertheless, the file was uploaded with {{PD-USGov-NASA}} which has a warning: Images featured on the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) web site may be copyrighted. [1] It is true that the caption of ap230406 only says “Image Credit” and not “Image Credit & Copyright” (as in e.g. ap230330) but surely that’s not enough to get the image thrown into the public domain. The photo was published in relativityspace.com and in johnkrausphotos.com but no free license is offered. To me this is a clear case of copyvio and should be  deleted speedily. --Geohakkeri (talk) 09:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination. --Yann (talk) 10:26, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
