The image is way older than what the author has claimed. September 2014. The metadata shows that the image belongs to 'Ganesh' but the uploader's name is Manikandan. COM:EVID: In all cases the uploader must provide appropriate evidence to demonstrate either that the file is in the public domain or that the copyright owner has released it under a suitable licence. Comment Full metadata, and a username like that and an author name as comment is not clearly contradictory. I cannot see evidence on the web of usage prior to Commons upload, so don't feel the clear need to delete it. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:42, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

- You mentioned that you couldn't find any evidence of that image being used on the web prior to its upload on Commons. But, the third image in this link - https://www.indiatoday.in/movies/photo/chennai-floods-from-siddharth-to-allu-arjun-celebrities-who-contributed-to-bring-the-city-back-to-normalcy-376902-2015-12-06 - shows the same image from 2015. FWIW, there is no metadata on the image from the above link, which I believe could have been lost due to file conversion for the web.
- I am not exactly sure how this will be handled, but just because someone has an image with the relevant metadata does not mean they own it. For instance, the image File:Sathish2024.jpg was a RAW file that came through VRT with relevant metadata, but it was later proven that the uploader was not the owner of the image. Similarly, I believe this image has been uploaded without the knowledge of the photographer or of the subject. If not, the author should at least submit a higher resolution image through VRT or release the image for free. Jeraxmoira (talk) 13:05, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
