Historical photos/documents/books. Proper author/date/country of creation information should be supplied to determine copyrights status and license tags corrected.

  •  Keep All of these could have been handled by swapping the date of the derivative copy for the date of the derivative work, if you prefer that date, and swapping in a license for the original work and swapping out the license of the derivative scan. All are more than 50 years old, several date from the 1800s. They are from Colonial India "Photographs created before 1962 are in the public domain 50 years after creation, as per the Copyright Act 1911." Most of the government documents would be PD-ineligible. PD-UKGov may also apply to the documents since prior to 1947 India was under the control of the UK, although India claims the copyright for works originating from India as the successor to Colonial India. Most are dated in the title, while the date used in the template is the date for the derivative copy made when the uploader scanned the documents. For example:
  • File:Cheque 7th June 1884.jpg PD-UKGov, a check containing a royal charter seal
  • File:Rabbi Salomon Levi Indian Relief Committee.jpg PD-ineligible, a form filled out, copyright is awarded for creative works, not filling in facts in a form.
  • File:Prayer book of Rabbi Salomon Halevi (Last Rabbi of Madras Synagogue)-10.jpg is a prayer book dated 1875, the publication information is in Cyrillic, but no jurisdiction has a book published in 1875 under an active copyright.

Kept: partly, deleted partly, per remarks above. If you do not agree with my decision to delete the file, please ask for undeletion on COM:UNDELETE. If you do so, formulate your motivation why this image can be maintained very clearly and base your motivation on the Commons policies. After that, another administrator will take a decision. And if you think I kept a file which should be deleted, please nominate again. --Ellywa (talk) 16:38, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
