Rudraksha adverts

[edit]

These files are advertisements for rudraksha beads, advertising the products sold at links listed as the source for each image. Being adverts, they should be deleted. --Scyrme (talk) 21:22, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Most files are in use, no visible advertising. --Krd 03:36, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ads being in use is no good reason to keep them. They are photos of merchandise for sale with shop links given as their source; I don't see how showing one's merch and linking where you can buy it doesn't qualify as an ad. The photos don't need the words "buy now" written on them to make the intent behind uploading them clear. This intent is even more clear in context, as putting these files into use has been accompanied by the addition of much less subtle advertising/spam into the same articles, particularly the English-language Wikipedia article for "Rudraksha" which has recently had its protection escalated due to this persistent spam.
While these files could have their metadata edited to remove the source links, this would mean taking the images without proper attribution, which I'm fairly sure is discouraged on Wikimedia Commons and would contradict the Creative Commons license they have been uploaded with. Since the links can't be removed, the best solution is to simply delete these files.
There are plenty of alternative photos these subjects which were not uploaded as adverts for merch (many of which are likewise in use), so there is no good reason to keep these files. Scyrme (talk) 03:19, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: most as copyvios (no free license at source website). Kept 2 with VRT ticket; little advertising content and in use. --P 1 9 9   16:59, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
