Join the team!

[edit]

We are looking for new volunteers that would like to be part of the international team. Experience within the movement and local WLM competition is needed for this: 2022 is the perfect time to work alongside the more experienced international team members!
Please reach out to Krishna if you would be interested in joining the team.

We are looking for more people that are willing to help with:

Organizer outreach
  • From the international team we provide support for national organizers, and the best way to support is to do pro-active outreach. Organizer outreach needs to be done year round, and has it's most busy period from August-the month after the competition ends.
Designing/organizing the “rest of the world” competition
  • A new idea we'd like to try! For Wikimedians living in countries were there is no national competition, would it be possible to combine these countries into one "rest of the world" competition? Come and explore the option with us!
Project management
  • The WLM international team works on Phabricator, and we try to keep things aligned, but it is great to have someone on the team that can have an extra eye out so nothing falls through the cracks.
Communication
  • Communication is key! Wiki Loves Monuments has it's on Wordpress based website where we produces blogs. We also are on Facebook, Twitter and on Instagram.
Award coordination
  • On a international level, most busy time is when National campaigns have ended and preparations for the international award ceremony need to be done.
Survey and analysis
Grant & report writing
Banner/template support
  • Knowing how to work magic with Mediawiki source code and maybe a bit of Lua (templates), and HTML/CSS (banners) is needed here.
Technical Infrastructure
  • We would like to call for a volunteer that has React, Angular, Vue.js skill set, and can help with improving the front end of Commons:Montage. Please let us know if you would be able to help: this would be a task that can be done unrelated of the WLM competition phase, but does need at least 1-2 month commitment.
  • More volunteers to help with tools like Monumental and Erfgoedbot are needed, because of ongoing maintenance for these tool. Please reach out if you with be available and have time to commit for a longer period of time.
Wikidata migration
  • Two words, huge impact: need we say more? :)

Curious what these can entail? Read about the different tasks in the documentation of the International Team or contact us!
