Description
Deutsch: Schiefersee im Naturschutzgebiet „Staatsbruch Lehesten“ (NSG 285) in Lehesten, Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt (Thüringen) – Der Bereich „Schieferbergbau bei Lehesten“ wurde als Nationaler Geotop ausgezeichnet. Im 13. Jahrhundert begannen in diesem Gebiet bergmännische Tätigkeiten. Die stillgelegten Steinbrüche, Stollen und Schächte sowie die Halden sind Lebensraum für zahlreiche seltene Tier- und Pflanzenarten. In diesem zum Teil schlecht zugänglichen (und nur auf den Wegen begehbaren) Areal haben sich mittlerweile 170 Arten der „Roten Liste“, also vom Aussterben bedrohter Pflanzen und Tiere, angesiedelt.
