English: Bio-diesel is a kind of fuel combustible for a diesel engine but made from non-petroleum sources. Japanese like to eat oil-fried "tempura" food so produce a huge amount of used animal or vegetable fat, which is a good source of recycle oil to produce bio-diesel.
中文：生物柴油是一種非石化原料製造的燃料，可以由柴油引擎順利燃燒產生動力。由於日本人的日常飲食中包含大量的「油揚」食物（油炸食物），因此每個家戶都會產生不少的廢棄食用油，政府鼓勵回收這些動植物性廢油，處理後製造成生物柴油，供如巴士這類公共運輸工具使用。途中所見就是京都市營巴士車窗上的一張佈告，說明此車使用生物柴油為動力，並歡迎大家踴躍回收炸過天婦羅後剩下的廢油以幫助回收。
