Description
English: Speights Coast to Coast 25th Anniversary 9-10 February 2007

Kate Pedley finishing the mountain run leg (33 km) over Goats' Pass in Arthur's Pass National Park, South Island, New Zealand. The Coast to Coast is a very popular mulitsport race that usually takes 2 days (started in 1983 and in 1990 they also made it a 1 day event for the super keen and world multisport champs). Total distance is about 280 km with a 3km run up the beach at Kumara on the West Coast, 55 km road cycle, 33 km mountain run, 15 km road cycle, 80 km kayak down the Waimakariri River and a 70 km road cycle into Christchurch and finishing on Sumner Beach.

My Dad was one of the crazy originals to do the first ever event in 1983 and since it was the 25th anniversary, 23 of the originals came back and 3 did it with their children - myself included. This was the 10th time Dad has raced in the Coast to Coast. Times range for the whole event from 11 and a half hours to over 23 hours. Dad and I managed to battle it out in 16 hours over the 2 day event.
