English: This time-lapse sequence shows ESO's La Silla Observatory, looking towards the south. The 3.6-metre telescope and the New Technology telescope enclosures are visible on the left. During the first part of the sequence the Moon lights up the sky, and several trails left by aircraft are visible and at the end the sky goes dark after the Moon sets. The Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds can be seen as well as some passing aircraft. |
