English: Manuel Comnenus. Curiopalates, circa late 11th-early 12th century. PB Seal (31mm, 32.79 g, 12h). Q DHMHTPIOC [Q G]EWP[G]IO[C] in columnar format, the military saints Demetrius and George standing facing, both nimbate; Demetrius holding banner in right hand and oval shield in left, George holding spear in right hand, with which he transfixes a serpent below, and small round shield (buckler) in left / Metrical legend in six lines: +KVRO / TW’CW’D_ / MANOVHL / K_POPALA’ / TH TW’ KO / MNHN_. Apparently unpublished. Good VF, smooth gray-brown patina, slight roughness on reverse.
