Description

(1 in a multiple picture album) As one car goes up, anouther comes down and for those who are a bit skittish about height, it is quite disconcerting as the cars meet. For a brief moment you think they are going to collide, and then then pass each other with a little room to spare. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders from the desert floor to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering picturesque and spectacular vistas of the rock formations and the valley floor below.

Once you reach the Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet—you can enjoy two restaurants, observation decks, natural history museum, two documentary theaters, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.
