English: Yumpilel Haappa (Yumbirel Happa / Yumpilen / Yumbiren Happa) - a gesture (Khut-thek) of installing main pillar in Lai Haraoba classical dance & music ritualistic performances of ancient Kangleipak civilisation - It is a gesture (Khut-thek) of "the construction of a house" - one of the Yum Saapa / Yum Sapa / Yoom Saaba / Yoom Saba / Eem Shaapa / Eem Shapa / Im Shaaba / Im Shaba group of gestures of building house / home / hut / cottage (yum / yoom / eem / im) - in classical Meitei dance forms (Meitei Jagoi); In Meiteilon, alias Meitei or Meetei or Manipuri or Kanglei or Meithei language, the word "Khut-thek" (or Khutthek or Khuthek) means hand gesture. Here, "khut" means hand and "thek" means gestural movement in Meitei language. There are numerous khut-thek hand gestures, which are used in classical Meitei dance forms like those of Lai Haraoba of the traditional Meitei religion (Sanamahism) from the land of Kangleipak (today known as Manipur state). |
