[edit]DescriptionYaang Khutthek - a hand gesture (Khut-thek) of classical Meitei dance forms (Meitei Jagoi) of Kangleipak civilisation (Manipur).jpg |
English: Yaang Khutthek (alias Yang Khutthek) - It is a hand gesture (Khut-thek) of classical Meitei dance forms (Meitei Jagoi); In Meiteilon, alias Meitei or Meetei or Manipuri or Kanglei or Meithei language, the word "Khut-thek" (or Khutthek or Khuthek) means hand gesture. Here, "khut" means hand and "thek" means gestural movement in Meitei language. There are numerous khut-thek hand gestures, which are used in classical Meitei dance forms like those of Lai Haraoba of the traditional Meitei religion (Sanamahism) or those of Meitei Rasa Leela Jagoi & Meitei Nata Sankirtana (Nat Sankirtan) of Vaishnavite Meiteis (Hindu Meiteis), from the land of Kangleipak (today known as Manipur state). Most of the Khut-thek hand gestures used in the performing arts of Sanamahism (traditional Meitei religion) are distinct from those of Hinduism (even within Meitei Hinduism or Meitei Vaishnavism), with a few being common. Some of these Khut-thek hand gestures are also used in the performances of the classical Meitei martial arts like Huiyen Lanlong (also spelled as Huiyen Lallong, Huiyen Lalong, Huyen Lanlong, Huyen Lallong, Huyen Lalong, Huyyen Lanlong, Huyyen Lallong, Huyyen Lalong, etc.). |
