Comment on the oppose vote

I'd just like to comment on the oppose vote if that's okay. I suppose I can understand how you want me to have more edits to the Commons namespace. However, I could rack up an "impressive" number of edits by just going through every image listed on Commons:Deletion requests for a month or so and adding {{delete}}, but that doesn't really show anything. I hoped instead that my contributions to both Wikipedia and to the library here would have carried more weight. Also, just out of curiosity, I noticed when you were nominated for adminship on January 16 that you also only had two edits to the Commons: namespace. I'm not trying to be a douche bag or anything, but I'd just like you to possibly reconsider {{oppose}}ing me simply because of the fact that I only have two edits as well. Could you please help with license/copright of that image? Somebody pointed out (in my discussion) that I should use {{PermissionOTRS}}. Whats next?

Category:Food of Turkey

Hello Bastique, some time ago I marked Category:Turkish Food with a speedydelete-tag, because it was a double of Category:Turkish food. You've deleted both and created Category:Food of Turkey. This is another possible name for the category but it doesn't really fit to most if the other labels in Category:Food by country. I think it would help to navigate, if the names follow the same rule and I would prefer to rebuild Category:Turkish food. What do you think? --Lyzzy 07:47, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Category:Egyptian Museum

Hello. Why did you change the Category:Egyptian Museum to Category:Museums in Egypt. The Egyptian Museum is considered to have the best collection of antiquities from Ancient Egypt and we have many photos here that justify a separate category. Lepidoptera

Hi Bastique, thanks for uploading lepidoptera images. I have seen, that many of these images are redundant, so I have some hints for you. Please don't upload the entire compact flash card or whatever your cam uses. ;-) Select only the best image from each view. Try to capture the whole animal.

You created some new cats within Nymphalidae (as far as I have seen) - thats nice! There are some rules for linking and categorizing images within a taxonomic tree. If no article exists for the species, create one, and link the file name inside this article via gallery. Don't categorize the image itself. The article should only have one taxonomic cat (Nymphalinae and not Nymphalinae and Nymphalidae)! No rule without an exception: if you have an unidentified species you can categorize it with Unidentified Images of Butterflies and (if you know it) the familiy or subfamily cat. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Well, while it would be nice to show us the email proof, the fact is that we cannot use "for wikipedia only pictures" at commons. Therefore they were deleted. Sicne as you pointed , televisa owns the copyright, televisa would have to show us proof of the release under a free license (not just "for wikipedia only")

No. I didn't play with IRC. Main point - it's yet another distraction (I have much of them, be:Special:Recentchanges is main for my Wikipedia time). I'm definitely not a en:Julius Ceaser :-(

As for expert - it's very loud word for my law knowledge :-) I think User:Lupo know subject much better then me. I agree with arguments of Template talk:PD-Soviet#Retroactivity redux (I read original Russian Supreme Court ruling), so only images with {{PD-Russia}} could be left on Commons. Main problem - to find out authors and date of their death.

Confused over Image:Laracroft.JPG

It could be simply stated as follows: When I saw the image the first time, I thought it was a woman dressed up as Lara Croft. That could be simply excused as a "woman in a costume". Having seen the image Image:Laracroft-neu.jpg, I realized this was a mannequin, clearly designed to be the character Lara Croft, which is very heavily copyrighted. It's a minor distinction, but one that changed my decision nevertheless. Bastique

FYI, Erik Möller recently indicated that the policy regarding images that have been "superseded" by copies in other formats has changed: "'Obsolete' images should indeed no longer be deleted except where they're orphaned and there's clearly no opposition." English: Sorry, I have been studying the image. The exposed data are true, but I cannot give a definitive answer and I am not able to relate in English the complication that the subject has. I can't say what I want in english, although I will try it.

Images of sculptures in public places can be photographed and be published in Spain (spanish law, article 35,2), but it's a museum outdoors: I do not know if the place of the statue is public or private, I do not know if the place belongs to the municipality of Madrid or to the museum.

In addition, in this link of the site of the museum you can ask for the permission to make photographic reproductions of the museum (the commercial use, without paying, is not allowed).

Nevertheless, seeing this image of the statue I think that the statue is in the street, but the museum locates it in its interior (number 12 of the map of this link)

Las imágenes de esculturas en lugares públicos se pueden fotografiar y publicar en España (véase la ley, artículo 35.2), pero es un museo al aire libre: no sé si el lugar de la estatua es público o privado, yo no sé si el lugar pertenece al municipio de Madrid o al museo.

Además, en este enlace del sitio del museo se puede pedir permiso para hacer reproducciones fotográficas del museo (el uso comercial, sin pagar, no se permite).

Sin embargo, viendo esta imagen de la estatua pienso que la estatua está en la calle, pero el museo la localiza en su interior (número 12 del mapa de este enlace)

Puesto que no puedo decidir, voy mañana a consultar esta imagen con gente de Madrid. Quizás puedan clarificar donde se localiza la estatua.

• Scarlet Skimmer (Crocothemis servilia)
• Pin-tailed Pondhawk (Erythemis plebeja)
• Roseate Skimmer (Orthemis ferruginea)
