Gracias y un saludo --Ecemaml (talk to me/habla conmigo) 22:24, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes, I've seen that. Well done ! Of course I approve : that's for what the maps are made, and specifically in svg ! Greetings. Sting 18:17, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

COA Gibraltar
Re : Upper Rock Nature Reserve, Gibraltar
[edit]Hi Gibmetal. I'm always ready to make new maps, but unfortunately I have already several requests pending and will have very few time left in the next weeks due to professional duties so I think better for you find somebody else this time. Sorry. Greetings. Sting 23:37, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- There are several wikigraphists I could recommend, but I think the simplest would be to make a request on one of the graphic labs of your choice, among them the one here on Commons you already know, of course the one on WP-en, the WP-es one and the Wp-fr one of course, specialized in maps and where you can make your request in English. Good luck. Sting 12:34, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hello.
- Hard times... I'm really busy these times : maps, schemes, tutorials, discussion about map standards common to the whole project, etc. Argh !
- Furthermore, the map of Gibraltar is giving me metaphysic problems as I draw it mainly from Google Earth and even if the media type is different, it seems this is not allowed (I'm not sure). I discovered free satellite image sources which will allow me to modify it in the correct way. And more : I'm pretty sure the projection I indicated is not correct and this has also to be changed. In the whole, the difference between the two versions should be only 'cosmetic', but I'll have my mind 'in peace' after that. The map of the Nature Reserve should come at the same time, as a whole package.
- I hope you understand. Greetings. Sting (talk) 15:27, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Help with image
[edit]Unfortunately not (unless you remove the advert or blur it - but there wouldn't be much point in having the image then!). Problem is the Coke advert is copyrighted so the whole photograph becomes a derivative work. It's a pity, because it's a useful photo. Well hope that helps. Best, RedCoat 09:47, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- Again, I doubt it. It's likely the image would violate §9 of the non-free content criteria – i.e. its omission would be not be detrimental to the readers' understanding of the topic. As a suggestion, you could add it as an external link to the article. RedCoat 17:40, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

File:Eastern Beach.jpg
[edit]Hi Gibmetal,
I am half of a small software company that is about to launch our first software product. It's called Gibraltar. I like your photo of the Rock of Gibraltar from the eastern beach and would like to use a portion of it on our website.
You can see the treatment at http://www.gibraltarsoftware.com. I am also considering using it in the banner of a blog we are creating at http://rocksolid.gibraltarsoftware.com. We might also wish in the future to incorporate this image on other promotional materials (flyers, etc).
I want to confirm that we may use your photo. Regarding attribution, I would credit your work in our license agreement as we do other intellectual property. This attribution can include your name and an email or URL link. If you have specific text you would like to see in the license agreement, please email it to me.
Kind regards,
Jay Cincotta

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 13:58, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I'm afraid I got wrapped up on something else. I still have the file. If you want to put the request through again. I understand. The image needed to be researched to replicate more detail than was visible at the resolution you provided but I knew what it basically was and found a few other images to get the correct sovereign crown and the details in the decorative scroll work.
If you would like to re-request the illustration you can use my username link and I will provide the inscape file that I have so far, along with the other images I am using (An RCAF badge as reference for the crown for better detail and another version of the badge I found that is larger but is a different type of illustration with different color.--Amadscientist (talk) 08:49, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- I am still working on it. It is not the only project however so it may not be finished this week but I have not lost interest....I have gotten a little more envolved because of the need to research further. I just don't want to do this half way and as I began drawing out he scrollwork I realised I was really not happy with my perception through the pixalation. So the other night I finaly found another illustration slightly larger after about a half hour of page clicking on google. But if you had a need for it sooner I would cooperate if you found someone and they still needed additional illustrations.--Amadscientist (talk) 03:31, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Gibmetal77, my understanding is that the name of the image is wrong. As far as I know, it's actually the map or Merinid Gibraltar, which comprised much more of what today's is known as Moorish Castle (actually the tower of homage). Shouldn't the name be updated?
