Hello...
[edit]When you blanked my comment on your talk page earlier, I don't know what you were trying to do; I saw your message on BlueHypercane761's talk page right before you blanked my comment earlier, and I really don't understand why you will say stuff to him but not me. If you don't want it on your talk page, I don't see why you can't just paste it onto my talk page with a proper response, at least, but... I guess you probably don't want to? That's why I decided to post this on my talk page this time. I am guessing that you will just blank this comment too, or, since this is my talk page, simply never respond, sadly. The only reason I even made this comment is because you seem to be better here than on Wikipedia. I don't know if it is for reputation purposes or something, but if it is, I don't see why you would be worried because I haven't seen you do anything bad on Commons... and I don't see why you would have left that message on another BlueHypercane761's talk page the contrib before you blanked my first comment on your talk page, leaving a sign of it in your contributions. I am just trying to be reasonable here. And please don't be like some users whereas if you post on their talk pages something they don't want to see, they get really angry... I don't really have anything else to say. Dustin (talk) 15:27, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- It's not that I refuse to talk to you it's just I try to avoid linking myself with my en.wikipedia account. I for the bothering you don't need to worry about that any more...--Mr Wiki Pro (talk) 16:29, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- I figured something of that sort... I don't even remember why you were originally blocked; all I know is you were dedicated to trolling on the wiki, which is unlike you on Commons or Simple (I looked). In any case, thanks for the response, and thank you for not cussing me out like a certain other user did the last time I posted something on another user's talk page. Rather than only pay attention to the bad editorial traits of an editor, I like to also point out the good ones. Dustin (talk) 16:35, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Mr Wiki Pro: One last thing which I forgot to say. I don't know if you are watching my page, so I am not sure how I will know whether or not you ever saw this if you decide not to reply, but... I guess that's an issue for later. In any case, I don't know if you ever saw the vandalism on my talk page by IPhonehurricane95 here, but I was looking over the contributions of the sock puppet in question a few days ago, and I saw you revert some of his vandalism on his talk page, so I've got to thank you for that. I tried to reason with him so that he would stop vandalizing and you'll know what his response was if you translate the Japanese text on the diff I linked. I have tried to reason with some of his other sock puppets, but I don't think I have made a difference. In any case, because it looks like you are better than him, I will try to say something similar to you. Once your rangeblock expires, try to keep off for a bit longer... maybe at some point, if you can go for a while without trolling or otherwise causing trouble, you can try to get your ban on en undone. I don't know how difficult that would be in practice... but I still hope that you try. I have seen you reverting a lot of vandalism on Commons, and I see that you are indeed still very capable of making constructive edits, so I hope that you can apply that form of editing on en Wikipedia should you ever be unblocked rather than the trolling and whatnot. I just hate to see capable editors making unconstructive edits; IPhonehurricane95 was once an okay editor, but he has practically turned into a super-troll... In any case, thanks for your contributions on other wikis; maybe you can return to en one day. Sorry if I made this comment too emotional or something. Dustin (talk) 20:40, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah my spree on Wikipedia has defiantly come to an end even when the rangeblock expires. As for IPhonehurricane I just checked that on google translate and it was very harsh. I can't understand why he did that seeing as you were being polite to him... I guess his hatred for Wikipedia is that strong.--Mr Wiki Pro (talk) 21:34, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Updating tracks
[edit]I'm not sure if you realize this, but when you update a track after a few missed advisories, you don't have to upload every single missed track, just the current one, unless you are doing it for another reason. United States Man (talk) 21:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- I know this isn't required, but the main reason for which I am doing that is to help viewers who want to use some specific advisory for some reason and don't want to go to the NHC webite. It isn't actually for myself. Dustin (talk) 22:05, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
Alternate Account Alert
[edit]Hey, there. Is User:Dustin V. S. (alt) your account? If it is, please state so, and try to point that out on the talk page of that user account as well, in order to avoid any possible confusion over sockpuppetry (because I know that you wouldn't do that). However, if it isn't your alternate account, please report it to the admins immediately, because if it isn't your account, it's most likely the sock account of another vandal who is trying to impersonate you. Just a heads up. Best regards, BlueHypercane761 (talk) 23:19, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, never mind. I just saw that you at least left something on the English Wikipedia account to verify that it was indeed your alternate account. But just a tip, you might want to make that a little more clear, maybe create a talk page and state the connection there as well (preferably including the account on Commons). It really had me worried that another sockmaster had returned and decided to pose as you, and I don't want anyone else making that false assumption. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 23:24, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I planned on immediately having it renamed to User:Master of Time, but sadly, there was a user on ru.wikipedia with one edit. I requested on the Russian Wikipedia so my alternate account could be renamed, but so far, I have received no responses. The section is here if you want to look: w:ru:Википедия:Запросы на узурпацию#Dustin V. S. (alt) → Master of Time Dustin (talk) 03:19, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- That is rather unfortunate. "Master of Time" is an extremely awesome account name, I might have even considered something similar at one point or another. I sure hope that you get the account name, especially if it's operator won't be using it anymore. I did try to sync my Wikipedia account on Commons, but when I tried to register it, the login said that my username was already taken (possibly because I had first registered on the English Wikipedia with that account name), so I decided to take on the name of "BlueHypercane761" here on Commons. Later in October 2013, much to my shock, the Wikimedia sites generated global accounts for both of my accounts, so I was shocked to see "BlueHypercane761" display at the top of the screen above the English Wikipedia articles, and vice versa for Commons (showing my original account name). It did not expect this, and it eventually forced me to have to log out and log back in whenever I switched between Wikimedia sites, and unfortunately, it also caused me to edit as an IP when I forgot to log in. Sometimes, I'm not even aware that my account had been logged out, and I happened to make a few edits as an IP where I had meant to do so under an account. I didn't have to do deal with that before; I used to be able to stay logged in on both Wikipedia and Commons using both accounts I made to be unique to each site, but now that is no longer possible. I still find it annoying having to switch back and forth, because despite the Global Login syncing my accounts, I really don't want to abandon either of them. I guess that life is just unpredictable. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 06:06, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it's too bad you can't somehow merge your Commons account with your Wikipedia account or something like that. It's also too bad you have to wait until August to edit again. I can still inform you about images and similar things here, at least. Dustin (talk) 21:54, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

IPhonehurricane95's return
[edit]Just so you know, his newest "OopsIP" sock (OopsIP26) has been blocked, as well as 2 of his other new sock accounts. The naming scheme of 2 of them match those of his previous socks (the third one is just weird), and his rangeblock did expire 2 weeks ago, so yes, this is him back to his old antics again. I believe that the admins should reblock all of his previously blocked /24 IP Ranges for 3 months (the next level of blocking for his disruptive activity), including whatever IP Range he used this time, since we all know that he never stops at one or two user account blocks. Additionally, you'll be interested to know that OopsIP26 has been Globally Locked by a Steward, so IPhonehurricane95 won't be able to log in to that account or edit with it at any Wikimedia project site. Anyways, thanks for reporting him. I would have done the same (since I can't tolerate anyone like him), but unfortunately, as you already know, I am unable to do so. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 23:49, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- I assume that on the weird name, you are referring to 東條英機です, which appears to translate to Hideki Tojo, a Japanese Prime Minister and Minister of War during World War II. This is of the sort I would expect from IPhonehurricane95, so it does not come as a surprise. Dustin (talk) 00:42, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, I meant User:Hohoho the cow says moo. But yes, those (4 of them) are all sockpuppets of IPhonehurricane95. From what I read in the SPI archives, it appears that he is editing away from home, which is rather unfortunate, because it means that he's probably abusing someone else's IP to abuse other users on Wikipedia. By the way, there is another Japanese account (albeit, 8 minutes older) that translates to "Security Contract." I find that one to be very awkward, but anyways, it's blocked indefinitely like the rest of the socks. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 04:36, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- I thought that IPhonehurricane95 hated Japan, so why would he use the name of a Japanese Prime Minister (especially one from the time period during which they aroused the most hatred)? BlueHypercane761 (talk) 04:37, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- Did you look at the SPI case? DoRD said it was a confirmed sock puppet, but he doesn't know who's sock puppet. Dustin (talk) 04:53, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Umm... Yes, I did. But those accounts are still most likely IPhonehurricane95's (especially if the edits are from Beijing), because IPhonehurricane95 is currently at/has been known to edit from China during the summertime. The newest accounts (July 15) are all confirmed directly (to his known Beijing IP Range), though. FYI, another one of his latest socks translated to "I'm Hideki Tojo," obviously another sock. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 11:02, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- Okay. I think they are all IPh95's sock puppets, but I also think that they haven't all been confirmed by CU, meaning you can't be certain. Regardless, they are all confirmed as being sock puppets of people at this point, and as a result, they have all been blocked. That is what matters. Dustin (talk) 15:16, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
After 1 1/2 months of torture, watching IPhonehurricane95 vandalize and launch more personal attacks, I have just learned today that Elockid reblocked his Beijing IP Range for 3 months ... and his latest sockpuppet (a Chinese one this time) was blocked sometime this afternoon... which is a huge relief for me. That should teach him to give up his vandalism. It's about time that he grew up, especially given his present age. I was going to request a rangeblock to be enacted today, by contacting an admin's Commons account, but apparently, Elockid already took care of things. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 04:01, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueHypercane761: I see... although the Chinese sock was strange i.e. none of that "I hope you have a sh***y weekend" in Japanese nonsense, but instead, "Hello" in Chinese with a flag with a Chinese dragon. That behavior isn't consistent, so I thought it was strange. In any case, you mean he was rangeblocked on Commons? Globally? Wikipedia? Please reply and thanks for the notification. Dustin (talk) 04:16, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- He is only blocked on Wikipedia (IP Rangeblock and account blocks). That behavior is actually similar to what I've seen him do before, although this pattern is kind of new. Actually, these images reflect his obsessions; the Japanese war flag is the symbol of the country he hates the most, while the Chinese Empire standard is reflective of his admiration of China (the dragon standard is also posted on the Wikipedia userpage of another one of his socks: CaliforniaHurricane25). Unfortunately, the admins did miss one sleeper on Commons; I'm currently trying to notify an admin here so that they can indef block and muzzle the account. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 10:43, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueHypercane761: Regardless of these goings-on, just take note of the fact that you only have about a week left until you are unblocked. You've been blocked for so long that on Wikipedia, I have surpassed you in edit count. Dustin (talk) 13:00, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- What.... You have? I hadn't realized just how much I had missed out on. Oh, well.... However, you probably didn't surpass me in terms of edits made if you include the 3 years in which I have been editing through dynamic IPs, because added together, my true edit count would total around 12,000 edits. But unfortunately, school begins half a week after my block expiration, so with so little time remaining, I won't be able to contribute much, especially because I will be taking an AP class this year. Anyhow, I will still try to make the best use of my time. PS, the newest sock I reported here was indef blocked and muzzled. And it also appears that the rangeblock worked; IPhonehurricane95 hasn't made a single edit or even another sockpuppet after the block was imposed. I only hope that our luck continues to hold up. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 06:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueHypercane761: I too have made many edits as an IP, although I don't think I can estimate how many I have made like you have for your IPs. Regardless, I was just trying to make the point that you have been gone for a long time; edit counts are not something to judge by (quality is), and I am not trying to do so for you by bringing up your edit count (just to let you know). Regarding IPhonehurricane95, the only one these acts of vandalism are hurting is himself; had he stopped way back last year, he could have appealed and possibly started to help Wikipedia again. Instead, he chose a very bad path. In any case, I will talk to you later I expect once your Wikipedia block expires less than a week from now. Dustin (talk) 20:39, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Well, sure. And I completely agree with what you have said above. But please keep in mind that although I will return, school starts next week (for me), so I won't have that much time to stick around. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 01:09, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueHypercane761: Well, at lest you'll have the next few days! If I properly recall, you should be getting unblocked with the next ten minutes! Dustin (talk) 19:47, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'm finally back. And I think that you'll notice that on Wikipedia soon enough. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 11:25, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Yesterday, IPhonehurricane95 made another attempt to vandalize Wikipedia again. But fortunately, a Checkuser took care of things before he got too far, and now, 2 of his newest socks and sleeper accounts are blocked. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 11:26, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Meh, turns out they were the socks of another user. But recently, IPhonehurricane95 apologized for the trouble he has been causing on my talk page. I sure hope that he means it; it would be such a big relief. BlueHypercane761 (talk) 18:55, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueHypercane761: He really did? That's got to be a first... I really hope he's being truthful. If so, this is a step in the right direction. Dustin (talk) 19:15, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Have a look at my suggested solution at Commons:Deletion requests/File:06L 2014 5day.gif. If you want to do this, let me know when you're ready on my talk, and be sure to link the repaired file with the proper history. The reason I suggest this course of action is so that I'm not deleting anything before a replacement is available, especially since the file is in use. A temporary deletion for a move won't delink the file. INeverCry 01:42, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- I have uploaded every version this time at File:06L 2014 5day (corrected).gif; however, just to ensure that nobody uploads over it, I might wait a day or two before moving the file (until after Edouard no longer is being tracked). Thanks for helping to work this out. Dustin (talk) 02:06, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not good at waiting, so I've done the move and full upload protected the file for 3 days. INeverCry 02:21, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- @INeverCry: Okay, thanks. I know that I may have been a little over-serious about having a good file history, but I honestly don't see any use in leaving about only 3 out of 30 versions on Commons. Thanks again! Dustin (talk) 02:27, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!
[edit]
Hi Dustin V. S., you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
- Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

RE:Regarding file names and Zulu time
[edit]Thanks for the message, I though that upper-case "Z" is used when text is written in total capital letter as JTWC does, but you clarified me with the message that you left me. In Hurricane Ana, there are two identical files: Ana Oct 18 2014 2100Z. Mine uses a "z" but yours uses a "Z". I'll be more careful naming TC images. Sorry if I speak bad English. --Byralaal (talk) 23:35, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. I understand you quite clearly, so no worries. I just thought it would help to notify you, as I hope we don't end up with any more minor naming problems (like the one you mentioned with Ana). Dustin (talk) 02:33, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
SSM table description in Russian Wiki
[edit]Hi dear User. I have one question: In russian wiki, in the article about Same sex marraiges in the USA there is a map (https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9E%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%8B%D0%B5_%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B8_%D0%B2_%D0%A1%D0%A8%D0%90) - the table of Same sex marriages. May i have a 250m resolution of my picture?
[edit]Good Evening. I was just want to make my picture just like your post. May i update? i just cropped that from worldview. Nino Marakot (talk) 22:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Nino Marakot: At https://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/ , click on the button with a picture of a camera on it in the upper-right, and set the "Resolution (per pixel)" to "250m". Drag a rectangle around what you want a picture of on the Earth map, then click on the download button in the upper-right. When you are making your rectangle, make sure it isn't too big, or you won't be able to download a picture. Dustin (talk) 00:36, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Help!
[edit]I need your help and advice. Some users (really two) upload images without check if it was uploaded by another user before. I always check if the image was uploaded to avoid duplicates, but I don't know why those users do that without check, and it's annoying to have two duplicate images because of those purposes (maybe recognition?). As an example you can see the w:c:Category:Typhoon Nangka (2015), w:c:Category:Typhoon Chan-hom (2015) or the storms of the w:c:Category:2015 Pacific typhoon season. On Nangka it happened today with this and this with different time. And it happened in the past, with the problem of Higos and Ana (2014) too. How can I or We solve the problem?? --Byralaal (talk) 04:44, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

For cleaning up various acts of vandalism across the site (including the latest mess caused by ROXELANA22 on my talk page). I couldn't help it, you deserve this one. :) BlueHypercane761 (talk) 02:53, 24 February 2018 (UTC) |

Important message for file movers
[edit]A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Tajikistan
[edit]Hey- I saw your Nevada-Steyer edit and clicked on your name. It seems you like to work on satellite photos? I know this may be outside your area of interest, but the current satellite image of Tajikistan used on English Wikipedia is out of date (uploaded in 2005) because of a treaty changing the China-Tajikistan border. [1] The treaty was ratified in 2011. The CIA World Factbook has already changed their map. [2] If you find a comparable satellite image, I would like to request that you upload it. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 00:54, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

[edit]On File:2018 OK-01 election precinct results.svg looks like you switched the candidates around, just a heads up. Kingofthedead (talk) 07:56, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- I have no idea how I went so long without noticing that! I'll remove the image from Wikipedia for now and re-add a corrected version of it in a few hours. Master of Time (talk) 21:34, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
