pastéis de nata ánd pastéis de belém are not the exact same thing
[edit]Pastéis de nata ánd pastéis de belém are not the exact same thing. And in portuguese of portugal is more usual to say pastéis than pastel, so please stop if you dont know this language and its intricacies. Tm (talk) 20:34, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Tm: Who says I don't know the language? When there's only one tart, it's singular. (The case is unlike gambas al ajillo. There, "gambas" is always plural because you don't make the dish with only one prawn. You can buy and eat um pastel de nata or dois pastéis de nata.) The Portuguse Wikipedia page itself is singular Pastel de nata. --Scudsvlad (talk) 20:42, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- Sabes a língua? Category:Makaroni_(Persian_spaghetti) has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Cuisine is a subcategory of Food, not the other way around - also for the Netherlands
[edit]Dear Scudsvlad, You swapped the parent categories Category:Cuisine of the Netherlands and Category:Food of the Netherlands. This is not right: Food should be the parent category and Cuisine the subcategory, see Category:Food. Food is after all a broader term than cuisine. All cuisine stuff is food, but not all food is cuisine, think of Food schortages and raw food. So I reverserd your latest changes. JopkeB (talk) 09:47, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

The name of this category should be in English per COM:LP. If there is an English name it should be used. So, I renamed it specifically to "Deep fried chicken breasts in Taiwan" to avoid the violation of Commons language policy. Please do not make this type of edit again.--Kai3952 (talk) 08:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
Sarmale
[edit]I see you moved Category:Sarmale to Category:Sarma in Romania. As far as I can see, you did this without any discussion, and I believe the move was wrong on two counts.
- Categories are generally supposed to be plural. Admittedly, Romanian is only my third or fourth language, but I'm pretty certain that "sarma" is singular and "sarmale" is plural.
- At least one photo moved, one I took, is now in a certainly incorrect category. File:Feeding people at the 2018 Romanian Cultural Festival at Maryhill Museum of Art.jpg was definitely taken in the United States, not "in Romania". It would not surprise me if this is true of some other files in the category as well: in particular two use, respectively, the Greek and Cyrillic alphabets. Those are not particularly likely to have been taken by Romanians, and likely not in Romania. The Greek one is stuffed with avgalemeno, an unlikely ingredient for a Romanian to use.

- I see you have been active and have not replied. I have moved some of these, given your lack of response. - Jmabel ! talk 15:59, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
