This page outlines the steps to connect ThoughtSpot to the CData Connect Cloud Virtual SQL Server API.

Prerequisites

Before you connect, you must first do the following:

  • Connect a data source to your CData Connect Cloud account. See Connections for more information.
  • Generate a Personal Access Token (PAT) on the Settings page. Copy this down, as it acts as your password during authentication.

Connecting to CData Connect Cloud

To establish a connection from ThoughtSpot to the CData Connect Cloud Virtual SQL Server API, follow these steps.

  1. Log into ThoughtSpot.

  2. On the top navigation bar, click Data.

  3. Click Create new > Connection.

  4. Name the connection and click “SQL Server”.

  5. Click Continue on the top right.

  6. Enter the connection settings.

    • Hosttds.cdata.com
    • Port14333
    • User—enter your CData Connect Cloud username. This is displayed in the top-right corner of the CData Connect Cloud interface. For example, test@cdata.com.
    • Password—enter the PAT you generated on the Settings page.
    • Database—enter the Connection Name of the CData Connect Cloud data source you want to connect to (for example, Salesforce1).

  7. Click Continue.

  8. If the connection succeeds, a list of tables is displayed as shown below.

  9. Click Create Connection.
