Etymology

From Proto-Germanic *rēswô m (counsellor), compare *rēswō f (counsel, deliberation), from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (to arrange; to advise). Cognate with Old English ræswa (counsellor; leader, chief, king).
