Talk:suomi

As far as I can tell, "suomi" is only the language and the country, the adjective is "suomalainen". Hippietrail 14:12, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi Polyglot, sorry I didn't just fix it myself but sometimes I'm in a hurry or I'm not 100% certain and a comment in Talk may attract a native speaker. Just like now I see "suomalainen" is the translation for "Finn" also, but I don't have a way to check right now... Hippietrail 01:42, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I am a native speaker and can tell you that suomi can also be used as an adjective (or similar) to replace the term "suomalainen" or "suomesta (of Finland". Few commonly used phrases to demonstrate that are: suomipoika (or Suomi-poika) a Finnish man, "Finnish bloke". Suomi-rokki (or Suomi-rock) - Finnish rock music.
