Cognate with Saterland Frisian Stäifmuur (stepmother), Dutch stiefmoeder (stepmother), German Low German Steevmoder (stepmother), German Stiefmutter (stepmother), Danish stedmor (stepmother), Swedish styvmor (stepmother), Icelandic stjúpmóðir (stepmother).
