Small- and large-bowl variants of ⟨ɤ⟩, and the dated 'baby gamma' variant. |
From ⟨⟩
ɤ
- (IPA) a close-mid back unrounded vowel.
- (superscript ⟨𐞑⟩, IPA) [ɤ]-coloring or a weak, fleeting, epenthetic or echo [ɤ].
Sometimes mistaken for or replaced with the velar consonant letter Latin gamma (ɣ), which unlike ɤ drops below the baseline. The old 'baby gamma' form was changed to the modern 'ram's horn' form to help avoid such confusion.
ɤ (upper case )
- (Ivory Coast) A letter of the Dan alphabet.
Not used in Liberia.
