[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀟𑀁𑀟𑀺𑀕𑀸 (ḍaṃḍigā), from Sanskrit दण्डिका (daṇḍikā). By surface analysis, डंडा (ḍaṇḍā) + -ई (-ī).
