Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀢𑀮𑀤𑀺 (taladi), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *talati. Compare Punjabi ਤਲ਼ਨਾ (taḷnā), Gujarati તળવું (taḷvũ), Marathi तळणे (taḷṇe), Odia ତଳିବା (taḷibā).[1]
