The 2012 Copa Caixa Stock Car season was the 34rd Stock Car Brasil season. It will began on March 25 at the Interlagos and end on December 9 at the same circuit, after twelve rounds. The teams that compete with Chevrolet, came to have Chevrolet Sonic as representation of the manufacturer.[1]
The category announced changes for 2012 season, excluding the super final and system of dropped. The scoring system was change with the top twenty drivers in each race are awarded points on a scale of 22, 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.[2]
Amir Nasr Racing and Scuderia 111 will leave the championship, while Carlos Alves Competições and Mico's Racing will join in the series. RZ Motorsport, in 2011 called Crytal Racing team, will have a partner with Gramacho Racing and JF Racing with Nascar Motorsport.
Due to questions of sponsorship, some teams to change their name; FTS Competições in 2011 Esso Mobil Super Racing was renamed as BMC Racing, RZ Motorsport to Linea Sucrolose, AMG Motorsport to Mobil Super Pioneer Racing, Mico's Racing to Prati-Donaduzzi Racing, JF Racing to Comprafacil Nascar JF and A.Mattheis Motosport to Shell Racing.
After dispute the first two rounds, Rodrigo Navarro they were then forced to miss the championship due to unresolved financial disputes.[23] From the round five and the rest of the season, two times Mini Challenge Brasil champion Patrick Gonçalves replaces Navarro.[14]
An twelve-round calendar was announced on 1 December 2011, with Tarumã replacing Santa Cruz, and Curitiba to host two races.[24] There was a change of date between Ribeirão Preto and Velopark.[25] On 25 May 2012, the category anunced that the second round at Interlagos was transferred for the last race of the season.
