The 2017–18 season is Partick Thistle's fifth consecutive season in the top flight of Scottish football and the fifth in the newly established Scottish Premiership,[1] having been promoted from the Scottish First Division at the end of the 2012–13 season. Partick Thistle competed in the 2017–18 Scottish League Cup where they finished second in Group H behind Livingston by 1 point. They qualified for the Second Round by finishing second in the Runners up table. In the second round they took Rangers to extra time after Kris Doolan scored an injury time equaliser to make it 1-1, in extra time Rangers scored two goals to make it 3-1 and end Partick's League Cup run. Partick Thistle will also compete in the Scottish Cup, entering in the fourth round with an away tie to Queen of the South in January 2018.
