The 20th Century Masters project is a modern effort at recapturing the classics and repackaging them for newer generations to be exposed to and enjoy. Released March 9, 1999, the Lynyrd Skynyrd edition compiles some of the band's greatest and most recognizable hits.

Original Albums

The songs Gimme Three Steps, Freebird, and I Ain't the One originally appeared on Lynyrd Skynyrd's debut album, 1973's (pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd). Sweet Home Alabama and Swamp Music are both from the band's sophemore release, Second Helping (also released in 1973). From the 1974 album Nuthin' Fancy, comes the track Saturday Night Special. Double Trouble was found originally on Gimme Back My Bullets from 1975. And from 1976's Street Survivors the tracks What's Your Name?, You Got That Right, and That Smell have been included.
