A roster of the fleet is shown below. Not included below are buses and vans not open to the general public (Access-A-Ride vans and taxicabs, and employee shuttle buses), or demonstration buses. This list also does not include buses formerly operated by MTA Long Island Bus that are now operated under contract to Nassau County by Veolia Transportation.
Formerly owned and operated by the Bee-Line Bus System in Westchester County, NY as 401-484 and purchased used in 2009 as replacements for older buses (1990-1991 and 1994 TMC RTS buses).
9250-9349 were originally delivered with coach type seating mounted on elevated interior platforms for express service. 9250 & 9273 retain their platforms but had their coach seats replaced with 2x2 seating.
9140-9149 were powered with Cummins M11E engines and are retired.
Many retired.
8797 is being converted into the next Metrocard Bus.
9656 caught fire shortly after delivery and was subsequently retired. The next RTS order (see below) included a replacement 9656, but the replacement was wrecked in an accident in 2008.
5076-5124 have ZF Ecomat-2 5HP592C transmissions. 5075 originally had one, but was removed and replaced with an Allison transmission instead.
This bus order included a replacement bus for the original 9656 (see above) in addition to the 350 RTS buses ordered, but the replacement was totaled in a major accident in 2008.
Many buses are receiving LED signs.
6 units written off due to separate structural integrity issues, accidents, and fires.
The original numbers for this batch of buses were 5252-5509.
Many retired; 35 units remain in service.
24 renumbered units remain in service. The renumbered units are: 1001-1002, 1004-1009 & 1011-1017, 1019-1021, 1023-1027 (mostly ex-5300s and 5400s), and 4705 (ex-5283)[3]
11 un-renumbered units (5392, 5400, 5410, 5415-5416, 5418, 5423, 5464, 5471, 5485, and 5491) also remain in service.
7691 and 7746 were repowered with Cummins-Westport ISL-G engines and re-geared with Allison B400R WTEC engines.
7810-7819 are 2005 units.
7580 & 7672 are out of service due to to damage from separate accidents and fires.
Last order of CNG buses delivered with the Detroit Diesel Series 50G Engine for the MTA (along with ex-MTA Long Island Bus 2004 Orion V CNGs #1633-1699 (ex #396-462))
All units were originally operated under New York City Bus.
5510-5519, 5536, 5539-5542, 5556-5560, 5568, 5603-5604, 5645, 5648-5649, 5677-5678, 5687 and 5712 were transferred to and are operated by MTA Bus on the Q10 (from John F. Kennedy bus depot).
5656 and 5658 were involved in separate accidents. The front half of 5658 and the rear half of 5656 were joined together to form a new 5656. The damaged sections were subsequently scrapped.
5657 is out of service due to damage from an accident.
Last order of diesel buses delivered with the Detroit Diesel Series 50 EGR engine (as well as the last order of buses with a Detroit Diesel engine for the MTA)

Delivered as a hybrid bus similar to 3500-3783 and 6690-6905, and converted as a pilot bus of a since-cancelled project to determine feasibility of converting 3500-3783 into straight diesel units.

570-643 were originally to be built by Daimler Buses North America (Orion) before Orion (winding down operations) transferred the order to New Flyer.[8][9]
644-672 buses were later added to the end of the order via an agreed upon option order.
205 is the 4000th CNG bus built By New Flyer.
631 and 636 are equipped with LED headlights.

Daimler Buses North America Orion VII Third Generation (07.501, semi low-floor)
2185 (pictured) was damaged in the 9/11 terrorist attacks but was restored and repainted in a special 9/11 memorial livery and returned to service in 2005.
This order was originally for 126 buses, but only 41 buses were accepted. Additional units that would have been numbered 2251-2268 of this order were sold to New Jersey Transit, where they are currently numbered 7101-7118.
