Maryam Moshiri is a television broadcaster, currently with the BBC.

Career

Maryam started her career as a business reporter for Independent Radio News,[1] before joining the BBC.

She is now a regular presenter of the afternoon and evening business news on BBC News, the corporation's 24-hour news channel.

Currently, Maryam appears primarily as a business reporter, but has also worked in other aspects of broadcasting.

In addition to her work on the domestic news channel, she also works as a weekend presenter on BBC World News.

She has also worked as a news-reader: she has occasionally delivered the national BBC 8pm News Summary on BBC 1 and has also appeared as the main presenter on the BBC News Channel, in December 2006 and August 2008.

Personal Life

Maryam, also known as Moshi, was educated at University College London. She graduated in 2000 with a BA in Italian.[2]

Maryam's sister, Nazanine Moshiri, is also a TV broadcaster. Nazanine worked as a newsreader and reporter on ITV's London Tonight and the ITV Morning News before moving to the London office of Al Jazeera English. She is now Africa correspondent with Al Jazeera English.

Both Maryam and Nazanine were born in Tehran, and came to London with their parents before the Iranian Revolution.
