In Roman Catholic churches, a minister may be an ordained deacon, priest, or bishop officiating at a liturgy or a lector who reads scriptural passages to the congregation, an altar server, or an extraordinary minister of communion who helps distribute communion to parishioners after the eucharistic elements are consecrated by the priest.
