History
In 2022, nearly 20 years after the Baton Rouge Kingfish folded and hockey left the city of Baton Rouge, Mayor Sharon Weston Broome of Baton Rouge announced a push to bring professional ice hockey back to Louisiana’s capital city.
In December of 2022, the Mississippi Sea Wolves hosted 3 exhibition games in the Raising Canes River Center. 2 of those games went to become sold out.
In April of 2023, the Federal Prospects Hockey League announced a 3 year lease with the Raising Cane’s River Center and the city of Baton Rouge to secure the spot for an ice hockey team in the heart of Louisiana.
No-Name Issue
In May of 2023 Baton Rouge Pro Hockey posted many updates to the teams Facebook page causing many fans of the team and locals to the city to complain about the fact that the team does not yet have a name.
