  • curprev 15:5915:59, 21 August 2024Newtack101 talk contribs 97,449 bytes +1,181 Added back the statement for balance regarding the epithet of "father of the United States Air Force." Added the two sentences that I had omitted, as they didn't seem necessary (no one is denying that Mitchell wasn't important). However this recent book by a well-regarded expert states in no uncertain terms that Patrick, Fechet, Foulois, and Westover were the "leaders [that] truly brough the [Air Force] into existence...NOT Mitchell. This statement is necessary to reflect current research. undo Tag: Reverted
  • curprev 15:4015:40, 21 August 2024Originalcola talk contribs 96,268 bytes −1,076 Reverted edit that claimed to add balance to lead. The quoted passage omits 2 sentences:"Unequivocally, Mitchell is important. However, this focus obscures so many of Mitchell’s contemporaries". The source cited makes reference to the epithet referring to him as the father of the air force and to his leading role in the formation of the US air force, as well as acknowledging that most histories focus on his central role. To say his role is disputed is unequivocally false. undo
