Toy Story 3: Lee Unkrich's Cast Announcement - Slinky Dog
Lee Unkrich, the director of Toy Story 3, announces that Jim Varney, who voiced Slinky Dog in the first two films, unfortunately passed away right after they finished Toy Story 2, and they eventually found someone who sounded like Jim to keep the character alive -- Blake Clark, a really talented character actor. Blake and Jim had a lot in common; they sound the same.
And, according to John Lasseter, Blake sounds an "awful lot like him".
Blake Clark's personal quote is "I was born and raised in Georgia and fought in Vietnam. It was like being punished for the same thing twice. In facte, I used to have flashbacks IN Vietnam."
