César Ducasse (born November 1, 1979) is a French film director, writer and editor, best known for directing the Norwegian cult horror Dark Souls (Mørke sjeler).
Career
César Ducasse graduated from l’École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle in 2001. He created Addict Films, an independent production company which develops and produces feature films, documentaries and music videos.
In 2001 he made a music video illustrating Aphex Twin’s Milkman song, followed by a short film in 2002, Cryo, that won prices in several international short film festivals.
In 2003, he moved to Norway, where he produced and directed the Science-Fiction film Lies Inc. Widely inspired by American writer Philip K. Dick, it was released in theaters and DVD in Nordic countries. The film is known to be the first Norwegian Sci-Fi.
In 2007 he made another music video, Petiatil Cx Htdui, and started to work actively for Norwegian TV, editing popular shows like Nissene over skog og hei, Asbjørn Brekke Show or På hjul med Dag Otto.
His last feature film, Dark Souls (Mørke sjeler), a satirical horror thriller, was released in theaters on January 2011, and hit DVD and Blu-ray shelves in August 2011. The film was in competition at the 29th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and has recently been selected for the 44th edition of the Sitges Film Festival.
Awards
César Ducasse shared a best director award with Mathieu Peteul at the 2010 São Paulo Fantastico Festival for the film Dark Souls (Mørke sjeler). The film was also awarded in 6 other film festivals [1]
