Chamical is a municipality and village in La Rioja Province in northwestern Argentina.[1] With a population of 12,919 inhabitants at the 2010 census [INDEC], it is the third-largest town in La Rioja Province after Chilecito. The town is crossed by the Tirante Wadi and lies on National Route 38, 141 kilometers (87 miles) from La Rioja City. This young town has been an important site in several stages of Argentine history for the last fifty years.
