Early Years

A young prodigy at 13, Chris quickly became a regular with the Northern Magic Circle. While vanishing handkerchiefs and card tricks gave Chris a start in the world of show business, he was aware his act had quickly grown old. The following year Cross was awestruck with street veteran Rob Roy Collins, an established contortionist. It was Collins who saw the potential in the beginner, and helped him put together his first street show. When they stumbled upon Cross’s seemingly natural contortion abilities, Collins taught him his signature chain escape act, still a staple of Collins’ street performances. [1] At age 16, he finished school to try to become a full time entertainer.[2]

In 2010 Chris set-up his own cabaret show at Madame JoJo’s in Soho, London – The Carny Cabaret Show.[12] He hosted the show and hired in Cabaret Performers from around the UK to perform alongside him, mostly basic local London performers such as Equador the Wizard and Sophia Landi. [13] Whilst promoting this event Chris appeared on Simon Mayo Drivetime on BBC Radio 2.[14][15] This show ran for two dates before moving nationwide [16] In May 2012 the Carnycabaret will perform at Alexander's Jazz Theatre in Chester [17]
