Chukhloma (Russian: Чухлома́) is a town in Kostroma Oblast, Russia, located 171 km north-east of Kostroma at 58°45′09″N 42°40′57″E / 58.7525°N 42.6825°E / 58.7525; 42.6825. The town is the administrative center of Chukhlomsky District. Population: 5,400 (2005 est.); 5,464 (2002 Census); 5,597 (1989 Census).

The town is cituated on Chukhloma Lake, 50 km from the railway node Galich.

The town was first mentioned in chronicles in 1381, and was destroyed during the Time of Troubles. The settlement received the official town status in 1778.

Near the town there is a historical family estate of the Lermontov family.
