AEL Basketball club founded: 1966

AEL is from the founding members of Cypriot Basketball Federation. With coach one of the schoolteachers of the sport in Cyprus, Mixalaki Nikolaidi, the AEL began coward-coward with the beginning of official championships in 1967. It is established as the King of Cypriot Basketball. Beyond the 12 championships, the 7 Cups and the 4 Super Cups that gained, AEL was also the first Cypriot team that took part at the Europe Cup. In 2003 the king wore also her European crown after she accomplished she conquers at the newly established Regional Challenge Cup (South Conference) and became thus the first and unique team in all the sports that she brought in Cyprus a European trophy. There was a triumph that was completed with the astonishing record 10 victories in games equal in number.
