Jean Fuller

Dr. Jean Fuller was elected to the California State Assembly in November of 2006. She represents the 32nd district, serving Bakersfield, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Taft, Frazier Mountain communities, and Kern River Valley. She was a Superintendent of Schools before being elected to the Assembly. She is a Republican.

Background

Dr. Fuller was born and raised in Kern County. She attended local schools in Bakersfield. The Fullers own a family farm, manage property and has been in the restaurant business.

Community Involvement

Dr. Fuller's professional and community leadership include the Kern County Museum Authority Board, the Boy's and Girl's Club Board, Jim Burke Education Leaders Forum, and the Kern County Superintendent's Administrative Advisory. Statewide leadership roles include the California School Boards Association, Association of School Administrators and the institute for Education Reform. Dr. Fuller was named California Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators in the 2004/2005 school year. Dr. Fuller earned national recognition for school improvement in 1998 when she was awarded the AASA Leadership for Learning Award.

Education

Dr. Fuller completed her Bachelors degree at California State University, Fresno, her Masters degree at California State University, Los Angeles and her Ph.D at University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Fuller supplemented her leadership training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the University of Southern California, and Exeter College in Oxford England. Dr. Fuller has been an educator in California since the early nineteen seventies.
