Linda Bebko-Jones is an retired American politician who represented the 1st district of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, which includes portions of Erie County. She is currently self-employed as a business consultant.[1]

Personal

Bebko-Jones was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. She attended Erie Business Academy from 1964-1965.[2] Prior to elective office, she was director of Women Against Sexual Harassment from 1989-1992. She was a caseworker for Community House for Women from 1990-1991.She was also a caseworker for former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford in 1990. She was also Administrative Assistant for Pennsylvania State Senator A. Buzz Andrezeski from 1984-1989.

Political career

She was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1992. She voted for the 2005 Pennsylvania General Assembly pay raise and did accept the controversial unvouchered expenses.[3] She retired in 2006 after she was unable to obtain the necessary signatures to get on the Democratic primary ballot. She was succeeded by Pat Harkins.[4]

In November 2007, a state-wide grand jury was convened to investigate abnormalities in her nominating petitions for the 2006 Democratic primary. On 28 February 2007 Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett charged Bebko-Jones and her former chief-of-staff with forging nominating petitions and submitting the fraudulent forms to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.[5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
