The following is a complete episode list for the series Lost, which began on September 22, 2004. In addition to the twenty-four episodes in season one, a special clip show, Lost: The Journey, was aired on April 27, 2005 to put the mysteries of the island and the characters in perspective in the lead-up to the season finale. Season 2 included three more clip-shows to recap the series (see below). The series ended its second season on May 24. The third season debuted on October 4, 2006.

Season one began airing on September 22, 2004 and featured a total of 24 episodes and one clip show. A plane crash strands the surviving passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 on a seemingly deserted tropical island, forcing the group of strangers to work together to stay alive. However, their survival is threatened by several mysteries, including the contents of a hatch buried in the ground, an unknown entity that roams the jungle, and the motives of the inhabitants known as the "Others".

Season two began airing September 21, 2005. A recurring theme throughout the season is a conflict between faith and science. The story continues 44 days after the crash. Several new characters appear including the tail-section survivors and other island inhabitants. More island mythologies and insights into the survivors' pasts are divulged. The existence of The DHARMA Initiative and its benefactor, The Hanso Foundation, is established. The truth about the "Others" begins to unfold.

Season three began airing October 4, 2006.[2] It will include 23 episodes that will be delivered in two blocks: an initial autumn block of six episodes and a second run of seventeen consecutive episodes beginning in January or February. According to executive producer Damon Lindelof, there will be new characters in this season as the fans get to know more of the plane crash survivors and the Others. There will be fewer flashbacks featuring the Season 1 and 2 original characters.[3]

Season 2

This section contains episode summaries for the second season of the American drama television series Lost ; the season's episodes began airing September 21, 2005 and finished on May 24, 2006. In addition to the twenty-three regular episodes in season two, three special episodes were aired which provided recaps and insights into the show's mysteries.

Ian Somerhalder and Malcolm David Kelley, who played Boone and Walt, respectively, left the main cast. Michelle Rodriguez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Cynthia Watros joined the main cast as Ana Lucia, Mr. Eko, and Libby, respectively.

Season 3

This section contains episode summaries for the third season of the American drama/adventure television series Lost; the season's episodes began airing October 4, 2006 and will finish on May 30, 2007. The original airdates (U.S.) are listed here for each episode.

There are twenty-three episodes, consisting of the first six with a mini-cliffhanger, twelve weeks with no episodes at all, and then the next seventeen which will premiere in February 2007. In addition to the 23 regular episodes, a special, "Lost: A Tale of Survival" aired a week before the premiere.

Harold Perrineau Jr., Maggie Grace, Michelle Rodriguez, and Cynthia Watros left the main cast, who played Michael, Shannon, Ana Lucia, and Libby, respectively. Michael Emerson as Ben and Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond reprised their roles this season as regular cast members instead of guest stars.[4] Elizabeth Mitchell joined the main cast as Juliet. Kiele Sanchez as Nikki and Rodrigo Santoro as Paulo[5] are contracted to recur this season.

J.J. Abrams was set to direct the seventh episode of the season but dropped out due to other commitments.[6]
