History

[edit]

Once a division of Singapore's National Productivity Board (NPB), the Management Services Supervisory Development division was formalised into a full-fledged institution, the Institute for Productivity Training (IPT). in 1988.[2] It was corporatised in 2001 and privatised in 2006.[3]

The academy is the chair for the Singapore Association for Private Education (SAPE).[4]

[edit]

PSB Academy has a City Campus located in Marina Square, Singapore.[6]

In November 2022, PSB Academy launched the STEM Wing at Jackson Square, Toa Payoh, as part of the S$10 million expansion of the City Campus, which is now referred to as the Main Wing.[7] The institution now spans 100,000 square feet.

Graduate employment

[edit]

In a 2018 survey conducted by Committee for Private Education on employment outcomes, PSB Academy graduates achieved a 45.3% full-time employment rate, in comparison with 78.4% for their peers from three publicly-funded universities, National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU). This result is lower than post-national service (NS) polytechnic graduates whose full-time employment rate was 64%.

The survey also revealed that PSB Academy graduates earned median gross starting salaries of S$2,500 a month, while NUS, NTU and SMU graduates earned $3,400. Post-NS polytechnic graduates earned $2,480 a month. The response rate to the survey was 21%.[8]
