combine with aerobic exercise

Aside from the type of music, Zumba dancing/exercise does not appear to be significantly different from Jazzercise, cardio-kickboxing, or any of the other instructor lead gym exercise courses. --67.112.121.72 (talk) 06:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the wiki page looks like an advertisement, should this be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.152.123.110 (talk) 07:04, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Links aren't sources, article reads like an ad, except that ads are more compelling.

To sum it up: "Article" is shit. In longer form: Please, someone, mark this as advertisement. I actually came here to learn about "Zumba", and what my friends were busy with. And instead I get the kind of crap you feed employees (tripe below that which is fed to customers). I am not in the mood for a revert war, "entrepreneurs", so, please pay someone to write you some richer wikispam, or a least say what I said more kindly.--68.53.75.242 (talk) 08:12, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, just wondering? How can almost anything that involves moving oneself's legs or arms be called dance? IMO, only ridiculous. 82.141.118.38 (talk) 09:56, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, how about you try it first, before you slam it as not being exercise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.136.32.98 (talk) 04:09, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You got it wrong. It sure is exercise, but I would not call it dance. By your logic, workout with weights should probably be called also dance... 82.141.67.208 (talk) 05:21, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Zumba is extraordinarily popular, so it deserves an article. This article has a bit of an advertising vibe though, and I deleted an external reference that really WAS advertising. As someone with a little experience in Latin and international dance, and having just attended my first few meetings of Zumba class, I think it would be great to add more detailed comparison/contrast with dance, and any info on exercise value. I don't have enough data points myself yet to attempt this. Anaphalis (talk) 23:12, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Section Prostitution

I fail to see why isolated cases have been added in a section. I doubt there is an unsually high prevalence of prostitutes among Zumba trainers. The section should be removed. O.Koslowski (talk) 17:17, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

According to the references I provided (and thousands more in reputable newspapers worldwide), it WAS highly prevalent. In one case, over a hundred men from one small town were charged with being johns, including the former mayor, lawyers, and police. This is very notable not only for the prostitution charges but also for the corruption of high level officials. Zumba has some explaining to do and their silence on the matter is suspiciousTakethemdown (talk) 17:23, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since when is heavy.com a reliable source? Come back with the reputable newspapers worldwide and perhaps an analysis that shows that these are not isolated incidents but that this is something systemic. O.Koslowski (talk) 17:28, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you have any reliable sources which explain that the prevalence of prostitution connected with Zumba is significantly greater than the prevalence of prostitution in other settings, or even just in other widespread exercise programs, state this clearly in the text. Otherwise I vote to delete this section altogether. A few isolated incidents, even if one of them was a really big deal, aren't enough to justify putting this here as if the connection is intentional. Psychojosh13 (talk) 18:09, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In wikipedia's own page on Zumba it states that there are 217 employees. The media has revealed serious prostitution charges against these two. That's about 1% of their company roster. Aside from the sex industry itself, I'm not aware of any other business or industry where so many people are hookers or pimps. We need to teach them a lesson and show the world what they're up to.
"We need to teach them a lesson and show the world what they're up to." We do? Why? And how will an article that can be edited by just anybody teach them that lesson? But besides that, two people out of 217 is too small a number to make a meaningful inference. If those two people both got fired from the Zumba corporation and moved to some other company with only 100 employees, and continued prostituting on the side, then that new company now has about a 2% rate of employees being prostitutes. Is the new company to blame? Psychojosh13 (talk) 15:38, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also I added more links from even more reputable news sources, some from overseas showing this is big news. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Takethemdown (talkcontribs) 18:43, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Zumba instructors are not Zumba employees. Do the math. 217 employees; 110,000 locations doing Zumba instruction; 12 million people. --jpgordon::==( o ) 19:55, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

a large swath of the population had never heard the term until the scandal broke. like it or not, "zumba" is now being used sarcastically in such expressions as "getting a zumba". while prostitution may rightly have been limited to one small franchise, the entire chain/movement is now tainted by it.

how about an isolated section titled "Allegations in Kennebunk, ME Branch" or the like? that's how other wikis handle similar issues.

or a link to a dedicated wiki of that sort. is one going up? 66.105.218.20 (talk) 00:54, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It would at least be something interesting on this boring article Bhny (talk) 23:40, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Beto Perez wikipedia page

Hi! I thought it would be pertinent to have an actual page for the creator of Zumba, Beto Perez. That is why I've created a stub: Beto Perez. It's super short and probably still contains formating (and English?) mistakes (sorry about that, I'm new here and English is mot my first language, French is). Do you also think this person should have a wiki page? Maybe not? Then why? If yes, maybe you can help to expand the article. (Probably this conversation should continue in the page concerned, Beto Perez) Thanks! MaEve (talk) 02:55, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There should only be an article about him if he is notable- WP:N and also that there are reliable sources WP:RS about him. I've googled Zumba and found nearly everything is a press release. It's hard to find any good sources on this or Perez. Sometimes a person isn't notable outside an organisation so an article about them isn't needed. Bhny (talk) 13:43, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

starting time

Header says it was created in 1990s, but the infobox says it was founded in 2001. Something is not right. 82.141.67.208 (talk) 05:28, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Zumba apparel

Zumba instructors are NOT required to wear Zumba apparel as t says in the article, there is no requirement whatsoever many instructors wear clothing from the regular department store. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.228.205.29 (talk) 11:18, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with references

I attempted to attribute source of a fact to an existing reference but ended up creating two links to the same reference. (17 & 18). I'm not sure how to use the same reference for 2 different statements without listing it twice. In short, help! Lois talk 22:42, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
